Documenting lived tradition
This self-initiated bilingual photo zine documents my impressions of Quanzhou, a coastal city in southern China shaped by layered religious and maritime histories. Rather than presenting the city only as a heritage site, I focused on its everyday rhythms: street corners, temple thresholds, neighborhood wires, scooters, and food stalls.
Editorial Design
A contemporary bilingual visual language
The publication is organized around region, street life, ritual, religion, and cuisine. Each section pairs photography with minimal Chinese and English text. Saturated color blocks, expressive typography, and collage create a contemporary contrast with imagery of traditional folk culture. The aim is not nostalgia, but to show how history, belief, and everyday life continue to overlap in the present.
